MediaCenter can handle nearly all formats. Only one isn't possible at the moment:
I got an eac3 audio multi channel file but it can't be opened.

No answer? Is it planned to include this format in the future?

It should generally work. Can you offer some more details about the exact file type?

This file, for instance. No chance...

I downloaded the sample file. Indeed it plays with VLC and at least one other player. MC does not know what to do with it.
But I find this file confusing. It is a surround sound audio format that is normally found in a video file. AC3 is "movie audio". But this is a stand alone stream that is not in a container. It is "raw". Where would this even have come from? It seems like this should be inside an MKV container or an MP4 container or something.
Perhaps there is something I'm missing. As I said, this is an odd format for me and maybe I just don't know about some common source or use of this kind of raw AC3 file.

Just rename the extension to ac3
MC has been able to play raw AC3 files for a long time.
I have no problem playing this on my Mac after renaming it.
The compression field fills in with eac3. We should probably just add eac3 to supported types.

Supported in build 31.0.80. Thanks for letting us know.

Great, thanks
