"You are attempting to import from a directory which Media Jukebox normally excludes. Are you sure you want to import from G:\My Music ?"
It's odd, because it allowed me to import from that directory when I first created my Media Library. Now if I say YES, it says there are no files to import. It is almost like MC thinks that this is a system folder or something. It is not even XP's My Music folder, it is just the one I created myself which I have been using for ages to store MP3s.
This may have occurred after I selected all 2300 MP3s in my collection and ran Tools - Update from Tags Always in order to fix a naming problem. The tags all appeared correctly after I ran that tool. However, then I renamed a directory in Explorer, and just wanted MC to take it into account. I ran a CLEAR, which correctly removed all the MP3s whose path had changed, and then I ran an Import Media. It gave me that error message, and told me that there were no files to import.
So I cleared everything from my library in order to start over, and it won't let me import anything! My Media Library is totally blank! Every time I try an import, it tells me the folder has been excluded and am I sure I want to do it. I say YES, and it takes a fraction of a second to tell me there is nothing to import. It does not even appear to check.
Any ideas? I am going to deinstall and reinstall, as I am pretty sure that will fix it, but I would really like to know how to avoid this problem in the future. Does anyone know what that error message means?
Thanks,
Rooster.

I reinstalled, and I still have the problem. I can no longer import anything into the Media Library. Every time it gives me that error about the folder being excluded and finds nothing to import.
Any ideas how I can get around this? I can't play anything now!!! :-[

Can you detect the files in Explorer/My Computer and play them from there? How about drag-and-drop?

If I double-click on an MP3 in Explorer, it launches MMJB (my default player). If I drag and drop, the file will play in MC. However, I can't seem to get anything to appear in my library. It seems as if MC has decided it's a system folder or something. It instantly responds that there is nothing to import.
I uninstalled MC, and searched through my registry for j.river. I found loads of entries still in the registry even after the uninstall. Then I searched for mediacenter and found even more. Then I did the same thing on my hard drive and found 2 more mediacenter folders. I deleted everything, including the reference to MC in the XP prefetch folder.
I then reinstalled 9.110 (because I am a glutton for punishment) and I can now import into the library. I imported all of my MP3s, and all of the name tags are incorrect. They all give me the filename without the extension, but if I look in the format option of MC, it clearly says Name : songtitle (I have previously posted about this problem).
Here is an example :
I see : Pearl Jam - Live in Atlanta - 11 - Go
I should just see : Go
Here is what I see in the format option of MC for this song :
MPEG-1 Layer 3
128 Kbit CBR
44.1 Khz Joint stereo

As a side note, I have not been able to get YADB to find a single hit when I try to look up a tag. Obviously, MC is having difficulty reading my tags. However, WinAmp, MMJB, and WMP9 do not have the same problem.
Any ideas? I would love to get this working properly because I could use MC for all my digital pictures as well. I can't buy it with all of these problems however.
Thanks,
Rooster.
