Title: Problem with the Duration of a Track
Post by: Dirk_ on December 22, 2023, 04:16:10 am
Hello,

I use MC27 and have a classical track in DSD256 from Gustav Mahler. The file is 4.894.565 KB and the Duration of the track should be 29:35. Media Center shows the correct Duration in the Audio-List-Views - but not in the status-bar at the top of the window.

While playing the song always ends after 4:14.

Any ideas?

When I have come across this problem, I usually repeat the download and. if this does not help, complain to the provider.  Sometimes, I have been able to convert the file to PCM/FLAC but that is not a real solution.

I hope others may have more direct help but I suspect it is faulty data in the file header.

Out of curiosity, what track/recording is this?  I wonder if I've had the issue with this same track.

It's the album "Gustav Mahler,  Das Lied von der Erde" from Channel Classic with Ivan Fischer and his Budapester, Track 6 "Abschied" downloade from NativeDSD.

I think this was fixed in v29 or 30.
You can install a trial of v31 to test it.

I've had problems with some NativeDSD downloads but they've fixed them in all cases (but1).

Thanks a lot, I will then try it with the new version.

Same issue with MC31.

Another big file (3,8 GB) in DSD256 works fine in MC27.

So it must be a problem with that specific track or with the file header as kr4 mentioned. Workarround for me is to play it in DSD64.
