Title: Rendering for dummies

I  have been trying for hours to project video and DBT television to a smart TV and have failed every time. My TV is an Android device.
Would someone please give me a step by step procedure to achieve this objective. I note that VLC has an incredibly simple approach embedded in their menu structure.
