I've been running Media Center for many years, and I've never encountered this. I have received this multiple times since I installed MC 32. The thing is, I'm running it under the administrator account at the moment, and it still displays the attached message: "This version of Media Center must be activated by running it once with at least Power User privileges." But it's running under Administrator right now, and it still gave me the message. It's referencing a file called MJTSFileWriter.ax. I did find a thread back on MC22 about a similar error message that said you had to play some live TV before the file gets registered. The error message certainly doesn't make that clear.
I did just play some live TV using both my ATSC 1.0 and 3.0 tuners, so will this properly register the required files and the error message goes away? I normally only use MC for OTA recording (which is working fantastic by the way)

The file MJTSFileWriter.ax needs to be registered with the Windows system. Yes, if you play a TV channel and click OK on the popups you should be OK. However, if you go back to MC31, you will be asked to do it again. So do not switch back and forth between MC32 and an older version.

Copy that. Once I've upgraded I never go back to the previous version. :D

OK, still getting the error message. I've run MC32 with admin rights, and have played several different OTA channels within MC32. I've missed a number of recordings with the same error in the log: "Failed to create JRiver Time-Shifting Writer Filter. Unspecified Error". When I remote into this computer, I see the same error message I had before about the program needing to run with admin rights. I've attached the MC log to this post.

I am another long-time MC user experiencing this new error message. Troubleshooting has included running as administrator. Other ideas?

Try opening a Command Prompt, PowerShell or Windows Terminal window as an administrator (otherwise it won't work) and copying and pasting the following in...
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 32\TV\MJTSFileWriter.ax"
This command should manually register it in Windows. It should pop up a window telling you if it was successful or not. Then either restart the PC or restart MC.
