I have always used the paid version of Tiny media manager to sort all my films, I don’t use JR for this. It used to use there get subtitles section from the paid version which used opensubtitles but now it no longer works. You now have to use the paid version of opensubtitles but its too expensive to only use a couple of times a year. Is there another way to get them please?

If its twice a year, you could do it manually...

Its $20 USD a year, convert that to NZD $33, a bit much to pay for two subtitles.

The free account actually gives you 5 downloads per day (https://opensubtitles.stoplight.io/docs/opensubtitles-api):
"There is no limit for SearchSubtitles. Only one limit is applied, and it is about Downloading subtitles.
Your consumer can query the API on its own, and download 5 subtitles per IP's per 24 hours, but a user must be authenticated to download more."
I've configured MPC-HC to use my free account - you need to generate an API key (set AllowAnonymous=true) and use it instead of your password:
https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/consumers
It would be nice if MC also added a way to enter a personal OpenSubtitles account in settings.

We will look into that, but we likely also need to update the OpenSubtitles API we use, as they shuffled those around.

I just tried to use it the JR MC32 way and it doesnt work for me. I always used TMM before and that also wont get subtitles anymore.

An alternative is to just search for them manually and download them if you only need to do this for a few files. And there are other websites which provide subtitle files, like Subscene.
