Title: Off Topic: customize the right click menus
Post by: FrankL on February 11, 2003, 11:57:22 am
I'd like to customize the right click menus in Windows XP. I want to add and remove certain things to the "Send To" menu and the "New" menu. There has to be a way to do it, could someone tell me how?

I'm using Win98, but I would imagine that these features are still similar to XP.

Send To menu:

There should be a folder called "Send To". In Win 98 it is located in C:\Windows\SendTo. You can probably find it on your system using the Find tool. Just add shortcuts to the programs/directories that you want to see here. You can delete the shortcuts for programs/directories that you don't want.

New menu:

It's not as easy to add or remove items from this menu. Your best bet is probably to download Microsoft's TweakUI for XP which will probably give you some control over this menu.

Send to is done via:

c:\documents and settings\'Your Login Name here'\Send To

Your best bet is to download a good tweaker program though.
