Hi
Hoping this is a known issue with a solution. I'm a new user with MC. Using JRVR and/or MadVR and Bitstream/HDMI, I am getting audio dropouts. Generally about 4 or 5 times over the course of a movie, each lasting about 1 or 2 seconds. I have used MadVR within mpc-hc and have never had a problem with the audio, so I assume its somewhere within MC. The video continues to play during the audio dropout. My chain is computer->AVR-> JVC Projector.
Anything obvious to try? A search of the forum didn't help me.

Most obvious test is to pick Wasapi over DirectSound in audio devices and see if there is a difference.

That topic is in the MC31 board. It needs to be moved here as I expect less people are looking over at threads in those past-version boards (last post on that thread was from Jan). Will mine that thread and see if it was resolved somehow.
I too am noticing this now with Atmos soundtracks. Just watched Dune Pt 1 and there were at least 5 audio dropouts for <= 1 sec each. No discernable pattern - I could rewind and it did not happen in the same place.
This never happens when I am not bitstreaming audio, e.g. letting Media Center convert the audio and then outputting directly to my DAC.
My network is fine - bandwidth is excellent and is wired.

My experience matches yours. As a result, I no longer bitstream and simply allow MC to do the audio decoding, despite the fact that there is no Atmos support. MY AVR can synthesize Atmos-like material which is pretty convincing (Dolby Surround), so the benefits of letting MC do the decoding outweigh the lack of true Atmos decoding.
I have never been able to use bitstreaming without getting small, random, occasional dropouts, but they are not deal breakers. From the posts that I have read, it seems that the newer the generation of your Nvidia GPU, the more severe the problem seems to be. I am using a 1080 (not Ti), and for unknown reasons it produces fewer and less severe dropouts than the 3000 or 4000 series cards, or so it seems from the posts.

The audio dropouts are few and far between, and brief - although there's a lot of Atmos music now and if it crops up there, then it'll be something I can't live with (my bar for straight audio is much higher than video). It would be easier if it were easily reproduced, but it's not.

Yup, I agree with you 100%...I would really prefer to bitstream in order to get true Atmos/DTS:X support, but even after a year I have not been able to achieve dropout free playback, either with madVR or JRVR. Though some people have reported solutions elsewhere that worked for them, none of them has worked for me. I will be watching this thread carefully to see if anyone comes up with an idea that actually works for most or all people.

I use AMD RX7700XT together with madVR latest beta and I also use JRVR for concerts. I have no audio dropouts at all with DD Atmos or Dts:X and at The same time I have The possibility to Play 3D mvc movies that are not supported with nVidia gpu’s

I've been bitstreaming HDMI for years and have never had these issues, but 90% of my viewing is television shows. Sadly, I have never ripped a bluray in my life, but I do have a handful of full quality 4k HDR 24/23.98fps DTS-HDMA/Atmos mkv Movies, and many HDR Atmos trailers... I can say that I've never had audio dropouts or frame drops watching any of these 4k titles/trailers (or tv either).
nvidia RTX2060 using v536.40 drivers, vsync = ON, power mode = Maximum Performance.
JRVR 4k framerate matching HDMI Bitstream WASAPI out through Atlona Sync AT-ETU-SYNC (EDID emulation/Hot Plug) into Denon 3700 and out to Sony Z9D.
