Title: Is it possible to play MKV video files?
Post by: geomatrixx on March 08, 2024, 12:43:18 pm
I have read that it should work but even with (OPTION>GENERAL>FEATURE>Video Support) selected, no joy. Anyone have a suggestion or simply "can't be done without conversion (which I can't be bothered to do.

Yes, it's been supported for a very long time.
MC needs to download a library to do that so you need an internet connection they first time.

Thanks you for your reply. I tried to import about 30 video files and the only ones that showed as imported were mp4s. None of the MKV files.

Check your auto import settings.

If the library wasn't present when you first imported the existing mkv's were likely imported as data or documents.
You should delete those entries and re-import. When you delete choose ONLY remove from database.

See this page under tips
https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Create_a_Smartlist
Then re-delete the ones from the bad or deleted smartlist. Choose ONLY remove from database.

Re-run your import.
