Hi,
i've downloaded the most recent version of MC9: 9.0.105
I have also thought about using software like MP3GAIN to have my files sounding the same volume, but i prefer to have the player (MC) adjust the volume for me so that i don't have to alter the MP3 files themselves.
I want to use the Replay Gain feature in MC9. The Help says to choose "Analyze Replay Gain" in the Tools Menu but I can't find such a feature.
Please explain me thoroughly how to use Replay Gain with MC9.
Thanx in advance,
Tyler

You mean I select some files, right click to open context menu, choose Tools/Analyze Audio?
I already tried this before. It analyzes Peak Level, BPM and Intensity, but leaves the Replay Gain column with "?".
Furthermore it's not the "Analyze Replay Gain" menu point mentioned in the help:
"To use replay gain, you have to first analyze your files.
Select some files, right-click and select Properties.
Go to Tools > Analyze Replay Gain > Analyze
Click on in the Player Window, select DSP Studio then check Replay Gain. "
Please help me out.

yes

Select some files, right-click and select Properties.
Go to Tools > Analyze Replay Gain > Analyze
Click on in the Player Window, select DSP Studio then check Replay Gain. "
the directions your reading is for MJ8, they may not have change it. (they are human)
if they are MP3's it should work (like i said before)
maybe also try uncheck skip already analyzed and see if it will reanalize the realplay gain.
you are in the right place for replay gain.

it has nothing to do with skip already being checked or not.
The analysing process is restricted to Peak level, BPM and Intensity calculations.
Once the analysis is finished, i've got values for each of the three columns for every selected file, while the Replay Gain column still has a question mark for every file.
I'm only talking about MP3 files.

I understand that, i was only sugesting you try it unchecked.
i will test it, but it was working.
Update yep it is working.
maybe if you already ran MP3gain on the files it comes up with "?" and will not do it again.
try a fresh MP3 riped from disk, it should work.
there maybe no hope for ones already analyzed with mp3gain
-
i've tried this on a bunch of LAME encoded MP3 files that i did not apply mp3gain on.
i even downloaded the new build 9.0.109 of MC.
i can't figure out how this works?!
-
I explaned as best as i could i don't kow why it would not be working on your system.
you are the first with this problem (that has reported it)
maybe if you completly uninstall MC and reinstall it may help maybe not.
-
As far as I can tell the analyzer is still broken so I wouldn't put much store in any results that you get.
-
Working here ok on 9.0.109

Still getting 100% on all Analyze "Peak Level" results... wouldnt trust the output if i were you ..

ditto that ^^^
all 100% here too. Also, FYI, I Q'd up 5000 files for analysis, cancelled with about 3000 to go. Apart from the "all 100%" bug, all else seemed well up to that point. Yesterday, I finished off the other 3000.......
With about 700 files left to do, I got that "low on rescources, windows has increased the size of the pagefile blah-di-blah" error. Clicking "ok" clears the error, and MC crashed out (shut down silently).
I'm currently using MC v9.0.104 and have 1 Gb RAM installed.
The Final 700 analysed without a hitch. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but that *should* have been all the files analysed, but there were 7 still remaining, though as far as MC was concerned, it had already analysed them. The interesting thing is that these 7 files all had unknown "?" values for intensity, BPM and peak level, and replay gain figures of circa +152db!!!!!!
re-analysis of these files worked as normal.
Could this have been related to the memory consumption and consequential crash of MC?

>> ditto that ^^^
i think there were some memory fixes since the version your running.

The 100% bug will be fixed next build.
The decoder was using the Replay Gain settings from zone 0.
Sorry for any troubles this has caused.
-
I analyzed a bunch of files yesterday, and while the majority came out @ 100%, I had a few that came out at less than 100%...using build .109...
-
Many CD's are mastered to 100%.
However, if you ever had replay gain on while analyzing, you should analyze again with the next build -- otherwise the results will be wrong.
-

Yea, I actually master about 5-6 projects a week, and all of mine are pushed to 0db with a slight pump that rarely goes below -6db, of course this always depends on the source material. This is generally the case on major label releases within the past ten years.
I did have replay gain on as I was analyzing, I didn't realize this could affect the outcome, though.

It shouldn't, but did. It will be fixed next build.
-
Matt, I assume you mean that only files that have been analysed since the analyzer got broken should be reanalyzed and not the entire library?
-
My guess is that it was first broken in 9.0.93 when we switched to the new unified player core for audio analysis.
-
i never seen any of the problems.
Never played with Zones since i only have one
Zone 1: The Closet
Zone 2: N/A
