With more than a little regret, I'm announcing my retirement this year. The idea also settled in Bob's mind, and he's decided to go to half time.
I'll remain a member of the forum and still piss people off from time to time.
The great news is that, after his failed coup (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,134857.0.html), jmone has indicated an interest in taking over. In my mind, the rebel gene he has is not necessarily a bad thing.
Nathan aka jmone is an Aussie, but he's promised to balance the ticket by selecting MrBiff as his running mate.
So what will it be? jmone or anarchy? Please cast your vote today.

Don't listen to JimH. Senility is a serious condition. I'm sending the welfare officers around to his house. AI Bot suggests these may be suitable retirement homes in Minneapolis:
Four Seasons at Rush Creek, Maple Grove
Bellwether by Del Webb, Corcoran
The Villas at River’s Edge, Rogers
Adelwood, Chaska
Creekside in Edina, Edina
SummerCrest, Brooklyn Park
Hidden Pathways, White Bear Lake
Avidor Minnetonka, Minnetonka
edit - Also "fixed" the poll with a better option. Vote for jmone !

But I thought JRiver was now an Apple company (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,132634.msg919008.html#msg919008)?? Won't Mr. Cook move to Minneapolis and take over?
I for one can't wait for the new iTunes-like interface.

"With more than a little regret" <-- that's a bummer Jim.
Hope you have some fun times planned for retirement! I'm on a year long "sabbatical" and having that non-working time back is amazing on so many levels. Alas, work will call again (usually driven by the bank account, haha).
-
Nathan's a brilliant choice, although being on the other side of the globe will have its challenges. From someone who's managed global dev teams, it was a lot of late nights or very early mornings to properly connect. I do miss the trips to the down-under (and it was a lot better than Stranger Things "upside down" ;)).

He's not retiring. I heard he got a really sweet offer from McAfee.

What day is it today? ;)

*shhhhh*
Technically down under, it's April 2nd ;>)

I still vote for Nathan.

It's a dead heat between a brain ajar and a brain in a jar. 5 to 5.
Maybe I'm doing the wrong thing.

The real winner is apathy!

Who cares?

jmone takes a commanding lead -- 12 to 6.

I'm pretty sure JimH is using Sock Puppets!

Let's all consider this very logically:
1 Jim posted this on or about 4/1, a very telling time
2.Jim's successor poll has some minor issues about being taken seriously
3.Jim's handpicked successor has made not very subtle references about Jim (that you can read for yourself)
4.Jim really likes to make sage comments on the forum when people are, in his opinion, not being cool, or are being stupid. Therefore it would be important to Jim to hold onto JRiver because it makes him feel good to give people the benefit of his wisdom and experience (which I have gotten myself from time to time).
5. Jim is only 79. I point out that Warren Buffett is 93 and works full time and enjoys it immensely. Also, think of the two presidential candidates, the one, being 78, thinks that is a perfectly young age for a lot of things, including being president, and the other thinks that while 82 is not young, it allows him the experience and wisdom of running the US. So age really doesn't seem to be a consideration, unless Jim really is senile as jmone implies. But I think jmone was joking as it is pretty clear that 79 really isn't old.
6. Now making it personal, I am 74 going on 75 (I hope) and am still working 20 to 40 hours a week and that provides a lot of satisfaction. I admit to not having the the wisdom I will have at 79 like Jim. But, really, think about Jim's wisdom level 10 years from now. He could be like Warren Buffett in wisdom and wealth if he just continues.
7. Now, I am going to be selfish, I have relied on JRiver for years, and that includes the servers , etc that support it. When I run my personal financials, I go out to 95 and I sure as hell intend to have JRiver with me for that time as it helps keep me sane (and brilliant) So, I need 20 more years out of JRiver and Jim. I hope Jim has his financial planning out to 100. That also goes to the wonderful people supporting JRiver; we know its not just Jim. 20 more years of fun, at least. This software and what has been done is incredible.
8. More selfish. These threads are ruining my day. I don't want to even think about no JRiver in the future. It truly bothers me as I really do rely on this software day in and day out.
9. If I had to contemplate it, I would hope that the wonderful people working at JRiver could find a way to keep it working AND bringing in the necessary income which may mean a subscription fee. Are people willing to do that (whether you call it a subscription fee or not), I just don't know. I hear grumbling about the fees for the upgrades and it just is beyond me that people complain about $20 a year for this software and the people and server support.

I'm still using the Mark 1 Intercom.

I'm trying my best to dissuade him of this foolish notion.

It's hard to follow.

... I'll remain a member of the forum and still piss people off from time to time. ...
Yeah.
But I also suspect you will be here also to help people, as you have also done in the past.
Blunt (oh so blunt), but caring.
-
jmone has gone camping in the bush. He may be planning for JRiver II or just plotting his revenge. Time will tell -- if the snakes and bugs don't take care of the dilemma.
-
He's winning without campaigning. 14 to 9 now.
Maybe he could run for President.
-
Fake News!
Now I need a nap.

Wow, is there any difference between Jim and JMOne? Who is the sock puppet?
