Title: (video how to) Set per file an audio language and subtitles language selection ?
Post by: Fingerling on May 24, 2024, 03:48:46 pm
Hi,

Is there a way to automatically start some movies or series in a predefined audio language and subtitle language that difer from the global default language selected, based on some condition ?

For example: in Options>Video, English is selected as both the default audio language and the default subtitle language. But video tagged as "French" should be automatically played with the French audio stream selected and without subtitles.

My videos are all generated by ripping Blu-rays using MakeMKV, which offers a way to set d flags to indicate the default audio track and default subtitle track. If I get this wrong at the time of ripping, MKVToolNix lets me modify those flags in the MKV file.

No doubt there is other software that can do the same thing.

The default settings will control how a video is played for the first time in MC, but if you subsequently select a different audio stream or a different subtitle setting then MC will remember those changes and ignore the flags next time you play that video.
