Title: How do I enable Atmos for movies?
Post by: momomachine on July 31, 2024, 08:45:25 am
Hello, I have a yamaha Atmos receiver. When I play games on my PS5 or on my PC (when the game support Atmos) or watch an atmos bluray on my PS5, the receiver show ''DTHD/Atmos'', that I assume is the best version for atmos.

When I play a movie and choose the atmos stream for audio on jriver, the sound come from all speakers independently, including the 2 atmos speakers.
However, on my receiver I only see ''DTHD'' without the word atmos. So Im not sure if Atmos is used even if it dont show on my receiver.

Questions:

Why I cant see "DTHD/Atmos'' and only see DTHD?

What do i need to do to enable Atmos? And what are the steps?

thank you a lot!

Do you have bitstreaming turned ON?
MC > Tools > Options > Audio > Bitstreaming > Yes (HDMI)

On your Yamaha DTHD = Dolby TrueHD, so it seems bitstreaming is working. Maybe you can check your movie with MediaInfo and post the results.

yes, strange because when its atmos for games, ps5, etc...it shows dthd/atmos not only dthd...still, when I listen to the atmos movie of pink floyd dark side of the moon, the atmos speakers are working well...just dont know why it doesn't show atmos on the receiver...

I have also a movie file fora 5.1 atmos movie...but it seems the atmos speaker doesnt work on this one for whatever reason...

I don't think there are any other steps in MC.
Drop your movie file into MediaInfo and post the results.
