Title: Stop doesn't stop cleanly [Solved]
Post by: Conrad on September 11, 2024, 09:29:33 am
When I watch video content, often (most of the time), when I stop the video JRiver doesn't stop cleanly.
What happens is usually either:

- a black screen that I can double click on to move into the small pane and that has the auto shown toolbar at the top. The content is stopped (the timer isn't counting up) but I have a stop button that, when clicked, does nothing.
- similar, but the toolbar says 00:00 / Live on it. When this happens I can't play any other content without a reboot.

A restart of the application always fixes it.

Content is played over a wired network from a local network share using mapped drives. Everything is Gigabit.

Is this any kind of known issue? I've done a search and read the weird and wonderful issues thread, but I couldn't see anything.

Thanks

Try the Esc key.

It doesn't do anything. I have a log which contains the playback and stop events if that's useful?

Try Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2, ... 5

None of those appear to do anything either.

What version of MC are you using?

Video settings?

I'm currently using 33 but it happened with 32 as well.

I use MadVR as my renderer but I've had it happen with JRVR too.

Video settings attached.

May not be the same thing at all, but I've seen something similar occur when another app with sound output is active, and the WDM driver is enabled in MC.  Shutting down MC manually will work for sure (for obvious reasons), but I've also found that less drastically, so will manually shutting down the other audio app.

That’s interesting. I can check if tidal is running and I can disable the WDM driver as I don’t use it.

I didn't have the WDM driver running, nor were any other audio applications. But they may have been opened and closed since the last reboot.
I've rebooted the machine fully (not just sleep) and the file that was consistently not stopping is now stopping. I'll do further testing and report back.
