Title: How to Manually Set an Access Key for the Media Server?
Post by: buste986 on September 23, 2024, 10:00:21 pm
Is there a way to manually set the value for the Access Key to the DLNA Media Server?

I want to run the media server on a different computer, and it generated a different access key than I had running on a previous machine.  I want to avoid re-entering the new access key on multiple laptops, phones, and computers - yes I am lazy.

I thought this was possible on much earlier editions of MC, but cannot figure how to do this now.

No.  Please see the wiki topic on Access Key.

On Windows you can change it the registry, but it likely won't work (unless it's a previously registered Key, as you mentioned):

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 33\Library Server]
Registered Access Key

You might try restoring a backup from the old server onto the new server.  If you restore all settings it will probably use the old key.

If so, then change the key on the old server to avoid conflicts.  Then make any necessary settings changes on the new server, such as paths, as needed.
