I installed MediaJukebox 8.0 on a Compaq computer with 2.4Ghz Pentium 4 running WinXP. After recording some audio as an .mp3 file, I attempted to edit the audio with Media Editor then convert it back to .mp3. The converted audio is speedup (read "Alvin the chipmunk"). I also attempted to convert the .wav file created by Media Editor to .mp3 with the same effect.
Since then I installed MediaCenter 9.0 hoping this would allow me to do this conversion but I am still having the same problem.
Any ideas?

Why are you encoding to mp3 before you run Editor? If you've got the space, rip as wav, edit, then encode the finished product. Minimizes audio loss.
On the specific problem, don't know if the transcoding contributes to it, but believe this has come up a number of times before. Check out this thread: http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=beta;action=display;num=1041556215;start=0#0
