Title: Panel is lagging and slow
Post by: Jo1717 on October 28, 2024, 01:58:50 am
Panel takes random time to display thumbnails or even sometimes text .
Each time i play something and when i go back i get an empty screen, only solution is to go home.
Each time it has to fetch thumbnails , is there no way to cache these ?
Clicking home is like hitting a reset buitton it seems ....
this is really annoying and not a fluid interaction

Same here!

Theater View and Standard View are very responsive. But Panels (Chrome on the same PC) behaves exactly as described by OP

That's the way Panel has always worked, there's really no caching of the loaded images. I would recommend switching to the list view in Panel as it loads images faster, but in the thumbnail view it can be pretty slow, yeah. Not really sure if it could cache images, especially if you're making constant changes to your library, as I could see scenarios where images could load for the wrong things and of course it could depend on the browser being used and its cache settings too, hmmm.

On the chance that you may not be familiar with it and that it meets your needs, try JRemote.  It is a pretty amazing way to control MC.  Very powerful, very fast.

The blank page after playing smth seems to be a bug, rather than a design limitation.
Looks like for some reason the window does not get refreshed if you navigate back via the <- button at the top left after Playing anything. The url changes as expected, but the window stays blank. If I hit 'reload' page via browser controls, then everything goes back to normal again.

Update: upon further testing - the bug does not always happen, I'd say about half the time. It seems quite random to be honest.

Navigating using browser controls works fine.

JRemote is not that amazing , i prefer MO 4media which is far better. But i'm looking for a way to remote from windows a separate MC player machine. To my knowledge there is no windows app can remote MC.

Yes reloading the page do the trick. But this bug should have been fixed by now .
MC updates since many versions are only video related. I bought MC to play music...
I'm stopping buying the new versions until i see this issue resolved in changelog.

Jim's right, you can install and use Media Center itself as a remote. Tremote is amazing.
