Title: Reduce MP3 bitrate ??
Post by: iamthewalrus on November 27, 2024, 08:36:43 am
Recently dowmloaded an MP3 album and it came in with a bitrate of 320 kbps.  All the files in my library are kept at 192 kbps.
I tried to convert the bitrate down and there is no way to do that - Been using MC since it was in the high 20's and I swear the ability was there.
Attached is a screenshot of the options available - am I missing something?

Look at the encoder settings. Bitdepth is a different animal and not really relevant for MP3.

Just curious, why downsample to 192kbps? You'll lose noticeable audio quality for just ~60MB of disk space. Storage is so cheap now, is that small gain really worth it?  Unless you're extremely tight on space...?
