Title: JRiver for Android v33.0.32 crash
Post by: johnso515 on December 11, 2024, 08:09:26 am
Starting on 12/9/24 my JRiver for Android is crashing constantly.  It will not plan more than 60 seconds of music without failing.  Prior to 12/9 it was working seamlessly

The Phone is a samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G
Per the Phone. The OS has not been updated since 11/22
Android 14, Version G996USQSEGXJ4/G996UOYNEGXJ4/G996USQSEGXJ4

I have rebooted the phone and re-installed the app with no changes.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I'm getting similar crashes/silent closings on my Nvidia Shield with the 33.0.59 (I think) JRiver for Android.  My shield is running the latest supported version of Shield TV experience (9.1.1 I think). After installation the the app correctly asks for permission to access media files and after I say Allow it closes silently, reboots continue this behavior. When I uninstall it then reinstall it again asks me about permissions and I say don't allow, it then asks me about pictures etc so one screen farther than before. I then say NO and Never ask (whatever the exact wording is), then it silently closes again.

When I try to install JRemote3 Google play says that it is not compatible with my device. Could it be made to be compatible or should it already be?

Please try the updated app v33.0.59.

JRemote3 does not currently support Android TV.  You might be able to install the app and use the mobile interface with a keyboard/mouse but that would probably not be a great experience.

I will try my Shield to see if I can reproduce crashes.

This will be fixed in the next release.  Sorry about that.

Thanks Craig! I no longer get those crashes. I'll test more later.
