This just began to occur. I can type inside MC, but when I hit the space bar nothing happens. This occurs in the search bar and in trying to type tags, which are pretty much all I use the keyboard for in MC.
My keyboard works normally with every other software I have. Only MC displays this problem.

Try 33.0.51 at the top of this board: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/board,85.0.html

Is that a solution, or an instruction?

I don't recognize your report as a current problem, so I'm giving you something you can try.

I hereby report it as a problem. I took your kind suggestion and I downloaded and tried MC33.
It exhibits precisely the same "I don't see typed spaces" behavior. No other software with which I use my keyboard refuses to see spaces when I type text. AllofthetypingthatIdoonMediaCenterlookslikethis.Anditsabummer.

Are you using an ordinary keyboard? Anything unusual about your setup?
-
You say it "lookslikethis" - but are the spaces there, just not visible? If you copy the text and paste it in another app, are the spaces there? If so then it's a font or scaling/DPI issue.

No, as far as I can tell there's nothing unusual about my setup. I have two keyboards for my Mac (running Sequoia 15.2) , and both
exhibit the same odd behavior when I use them with MC.

Thanks for the suggestion and your interest, but no, the spaces are not there. When I copy the text and paste it into another app it remains without spaces.

It's almost certain that it is not JRiver doing that. You're the only one reporting it.
Try changing fonts under Options > View.
Are you using a remote desktop application?
Anything else unusual? Or recent changes?

I just discovered that I had Full Keyboard Access turned ON, and that was precisely the problem.

Thanks to you, I checked and discovered that I inadvertently had Full Keyboard Access turned ON in the Mac OS options; that was precisely the cause of my problem.
What threw me off on this was that I was only seeing the problem when using MC.
MANY THANKS !!!

Problem solved. It had nothing to do with MC. I apologise to you for crying "Wolf!"
