I want to be able to play youtube links via MC33 so i am able to control my ASIO sound settings.
When pasting my youtube link into "open link" i get a message "there is nothing to play". Link is 100% correct

Assuming you're on Windows, you'd have to use the WDM driver if you want to pipe the audio through MC.
-
I checked WDM in the menu. I waited 10 minutes and restarted the PC.
I still see WDM checked but I do see a new device titled as WDM
-
YouTube in MC is broken again. It's out of our control, Google/YouTube keep blocking the avenues that allowed it.

Yes, so you'd have to use the WDM driver with a web browser like Chrome to watch YouTube and pipe the audio through MC as marko mentioned YouTube in MC's embedded browsers is broken so you'd have to do it in an external browser.
-
How do i set chrome to use the WDM driver ?
-
You'd have to make Windows use the WDM driver (JRiver Media Center) as the default audio output. This also would require Media Center to be open at all times in order to output audio.
-
Thanks donkey, You are a genious.
JRiver MC device set @ Windows
Hiface2 WASAPI (my spdif device) set @ JERIVER MC
I finaly hear youtube via JRiver and sound is much better
Next challenge :
I only see the option of Hiface 2 WASAPI device @ JRiver MC
How do I get the option of Hiface ASIO device @ JRiver MC ?
-
MC's Options > Audio > Audio Device and select it from the drop down menu for the selected audio device.
One thing to note is if the ASIO driver for your DAC isn't listed and you're using the 64-bit version of Media Center do know some DAC manufacturers only release 32-bit ASIO drivers, in which case you'd have to switch to and use the 32-bit version of Media Center.
-
The new spdif device driver does have ASIO.
MC now plays youtube via ASIO.
Thanks :-)
-
Also note that my older versions of MC do not support this mode well. MC33 does.
-
Hey Donkey,
Another genious idea...
I have an issue where no MC would play DVD files.
The solution...
Play DVD files in VLC and set its device as JRiver and now dvd files are streamed to MC33 which is configured to the amazing ASIO.
Youtube with ASIO quality : check !
DVD files with ASIO quality : check !
WAV files with ASIO quality : Check !

Another issue/bug resolved..
Once older versions of mc are removed mc33 will lose wdm driver and no uninstall/install/reboots will help. Not even if entire mc33 is removed and reinstalled.
The only solution was nanual install of wdm driver from jriver drivers directory.
Now all works fine.

In those cases all you have to do is start Media Center as an administrator in Windows, then go to MC's Options > General > Features and uncheck the WDM driver and hit OK and for good measure fully close Media Center. Then start Media Center as an administrator again and repeat the process; go to MC's Options > General > Features and check the WDM driver and hit OK and again for good measure close Media Center. Then start Media Center normally (not as an administrator) and see if the JRiver Media Center driver is available in Windows' sound settings.

Wdm (jriver) option is gone from windows sound setup.
It was working perfect.
I set wdm (jriver) in my windows sound setting. I set asio in my jriver device setting. This way youtube was played to jriver asio and sound was perfect but now, sonehow, wdm option us gone from windows...
-
Did you try my instructions above? That should reinstall the WDM driver when it disappears.
-
I just followed your instructions and indeed i see wdm driver in windows. Thanks!
However i do not see where to set bit rate.
Before wdm was gone i had 192kbs rate set and when i go to wdm settings in windows i see no place to set rate to 192kbps.
-
I found it. Attached instructions how to set WDM bitrate.
