Title: Cannot open dvd files on any pc on any jriver mc version (MC33 as well)

Why any MC version including MC33 cannot open all my DVD files ?
I get an error "failed to open or parse file. Hr=0x80004005"
VLC will open all of them...

Yeah, it never works if you try to play them from inside the folder where the DVD is ripped. It never worked in MC.

Copy a file outside that folder and try to play it - it will work then.

MC has these weird rules of how it displays and handle playback of files of DVD or BD ripped discs. Next on your adventures list: try to browse inside the STREAMS folder of a ripped BD disc from MC while in Theater View to play an individual m2ts file located there.  :D

In those cases it's probably best to use MakeMKV to rip MKV files from your DVD/BD movies and watch those in MC.
