Title: SACD ISOs only playing track 1 - all tracks playing as one large file
Post by: TP1964 on January 06, 2025, 09:05:16 pm
None of my SACD are playing correctly any longer. This is new. They had previously been playing properly. The main thing I see that seems to be different is, if I am recalling correctly, it used to require that ISOs be listed in the library like SACDfilename.iso;1, SACDfilename.iso;2 for them to play properly. That no longer seems to be the case.

With the issues I was having earlier, I’m wondering if I have a corrupt library. Other files play and list correctly, the SACD issue is new. I’ve tried both with MC converting the SACDs and not. In both cases it plays the same way (albeit at a lower quality…)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve tried it both locally on the Mac Mini I’m using as a server and remotely - on my Macbook pro. In both cases, it treats it as one big file. The weird thing is that it has all of the tracks - with their correct times. But when you skip to the next track - it’s just the first track starting over - and if you leave it play - it goes past the “end time” and just keeps on playing the entire file.

Update - so I restored from an old library backup - from August. ISO filenames all had the “;tracknumber” at the end of each track. Of course, it had the old drive - so I went in to the library tool, renamed from /Volumes/usbshare to /Volume/usbshare1 - Took about 4 or 5 minutes to run (it’s a hefty libary) - at the end of it - all ISOs play, but only the first track - went in and checked the filename and sure enough, the “;tracknumber” had been dropped from the end.

Well - further update - I found a more recent backup from November of last year (yes, Bob - all on a Mac) that appears to have all the files still in a functioning way - and restored that. All of the SACDs had the “filename.iso;trackno.” pattern on all of the tracks - and they all play correctly. Ran an import last night to bring in everything else I had added since November. It’s still running analysis on the audio files, but so far - fingers crossed - the ISO files are listed in the filename field the way they should be.

No idea what could have happened (or even WHEN it happened, other than the fact that the couple of December backups I tried to restore, already had the SACD filenames messed up. So some time in December is when it went wonky. I’m going to chalk it up to a corrupted database for now. I’ll report back when the analysis is done, but I don’t foresee that causing additional problems. When it’s all done, assuming it’s good, I’ll manually do a back up to have a starting point if there is an issue.

Thanks for your patience - and THANK YOU for the automatic library backups - this is not the first time they’ve saved me a lot of work!
