I am having trouble getting this feature to work. Across multiple tests when used on one file or a whole album, it's not updating the library. With logging enabled, it isn't even showing an event. Tried it on old builds of v29 and v30 I had on a windows box; in the logs, those showed a google search but the output wasn't flowing back to Media Center.
Is there something I am missing? Searched the forum but didn't see a lot of discussion around this feature the past couple versions/years.
-
I have been using Media Center for years and have never come across this feature.
Where is it and what is its purpose?
I might try it and see what happens.

Richard - Select a track in Playing Now and you will find it on the Right Click >> Library Tools Menu sitting under the Lookup Lyrics... Option
It looks up the (Release) Date for that Album using the Album Name and either Album Artist or Album Artist (Auto)
It is probably looking for that date on Wikipedia so it will only find the date for Albums that have a Wikipedia Page which means it will not find a date for Classical Music, Multi-Artist Compilation Albums, or other Albums that don't have a Wikipedia page.

Thank you, it's obvious now you have pointed it out!
I deleted the date from a track and then tried it...nothin happened!

The issue I am experiencing does not seem related to if the song is on wikipedia or not because I used some songs that are in there.
In the v29/30 searches, the log file indicated it was a direct search for the song and date on google, but nothing happened in the library to the dates.
In v33, nothing happens and i'm not seeing anything in the logs.

MC does the search but can't read or doesn't receive a response from google:

Glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem (same log entry as above). This was my main reason for upgrading from v26 to 33 so hopefully this is fixed in a future update.

Are you using the Mac version? I get something that looks like this on PC (latest version i have there is v30), but on the Mac, I don't see anything in the logs about the search being made.
-
Windows.
-
Is it reasonable to think fixing this feature is in scope for v33? Just speaking for myself, having this feature working would merit an upgrade from my current v29/30 license.
-
I'm going to switch to Last.fm in a coming build. Google no longer provides data in a format we can parse easily. Thanks.
-
I can see where it has switched to Last.fm, but when using the Mac version nothing happens when selecting this option.
-
I just tried several songs and they all pulled the date properly. It's the "Date" field that will be populated.
-
Hmmm.
Are there any permissions specifically needed in the "privacy and security" settings of MacOS or anything like that?

Still stuck.
Running MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 and MC 33.0.71. Nothing even hits the log with an error when searching for year.
