Unfortunately Jremote3 will not load about 50% of my playlists.
Displays "Jremote3 isn't responding" then app will eventually close.
Seems to have a problem loading my larger smartlists.
Jremote2 doesn't have a problem loading these playlists.

Same here.
I have a playlist with over 4000 songs. jremote3 hangs and closes (By the way: Gizmo has no problems playing this playlist).
However, another playlist with 498 songs works.
Does anyone know how many songs is the limit?

While probably there isn't meant to be a limit, from personal experience... somewhere between 2500 and 2700 tracks. At 2500 after a few Close/Wait, eventually the playback begins - and then it just works, can skip inside a song, next track, etc. It's kind of weird. The playlist gets display no problem, if I hit shuffle the tracked picked to play appear immediately, it's just the actually playback that takes forever to start.
At 2700 tracks, after 8 Close/Wait questions the app crashed, at least the GUI, although I suspect something was still attempting something in the background (the Close/Wait appeared one more time).

Does it hang when you attempt to play the entire playlist, or when you just navigate to it?
No matter what happens, if you attempt to play 4000 tracks, then it needs to load the information about all of those tracks, which is certainly not happening instantly.

When playing only. Just navigating it's as fast as it can possibly be, no problems there (tried in excess of 4500 tracks, they all show up immediately, thumbs, title, album, artist, rating etc, depending on the view). The moment the Play or Shuffle buttons are pressed, or if I pick/press on any song from the playlist (which up till that point was very fluid when scrolling) the whole thing 'freezes'.
I tried to see if I wait, if it will start playing at some point, but if the playlist has more than 2500 tracks, something times out or the app is deemed unresponsive and the front end disappears, even if I choose "Wait" when asked to Wait/Close. Up till around 2500 tracks that wait time is 10-15 seconds, eventually the app recovers and starts playing and then all is good.

Are you trying to play on the phone? On your server? Or even Casting?

I have an early fix in review now, and we'll see how it fares. It did seem promising for me. If its still an issue I'll look further. Not sure when it'll appear for you exactly, as Google is reviewing the update.

On the iOS version, zooming out to display more (smaller) icons improves the situation significantly.
Maybe something on the server side is causing the remote applications to misbehave?

JRemote for iOS is a completely different app than JRemote3 for Android. Your issue is likely specific to iOS.

JRemote3 3.0.1 should be available now (or soon), so let us know how loading large playlists goes for you.

It works! :D
Everything that was leading to freezes before - Play, Shuffle, manually picking a song from a large playlist - works now perfectly. I tried my best to cause issues - hitting buttons and songs in manic mode in a > 4600 songs playlist - and the app remained extremely responsive.
Just for fun I tested everything on a mobile connection too, while on VPN - everything worked and was very snappy.
