Title: How to Rip mp3 without VBR?
Post by: LDF on January 29, 2025, 04:55:59 pm
I am re-ripping an audio book and have ripped many in the past.  Now, in MC 33, in Tools->Options->Audio: CD Ripping->Encoder Settings  I do not see a way to select MP3 that does not use (VBR) compression. I have tried 3 different encoder settings but the new files are smaller than the ones I ripped with jriver previously. Would appreciate education and suggestions.

Go into settings - Encoding - CD Ripping  then set the encoder to MP3. Now go into the Encoder Options and change from the Default VBR to CBR below it then you can set your bitrate as desired.

Out of curiousity, why don't you want to use VBR instead of CBR as it typically produces similar quality at smaller file size?
