Title: New MC windows open at minimum size
Post by: tlenthe on February 14, 2025, 09:27:17 am
I don't recall if this started in MC32 or not, but here's the issue:

when opening a new window (save confirmation, DSP save name, etc), the new window is only a title bar the size of a single character.  See attached image showing new "window" for SAVE DSP Preset (red arrow). Carefully moving the cursor to one of the corners allows stretching to see contents (assuming you can find the miniscule title bar in the first place).  Since I'm running on a 4K display (3840x2160) via HDMI, I have modified several magnification factors.

Here are the configuration details that seem relevant:
system
   Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
Intel i3-8100 x4 (built in graphics)
   Wayland display manager
Destkop tweak - font scaled to 250%
MC info
   MC version - 33.0.61
MC skin - Black on Black
   MC size - 150%

Any suggestions or additional info desired?

This happens when using Wayland, since MC doesn't support Wayland (only X11) and relies on XWayland when using Wayland. If you switch to and use X11 it probably won't happen. So it may be an XWayland issue, not sure.

OK, thanks!  I'll check X11.  As Wayland is the new default for ubuntu, is future support planned?

If it's to happen, I honestly wouldn't expect it anytime soon, but Bob may be able to tell you otherwise. It's still probably a few years away until Xfce supports it (which as far as I know is the preferred desktop environment Bob uses), for example.
