I am re-posting my original question because I have not received any constructive support. My original post is included below:
“I recently purchased the latest version (34.0.3) of MC for Android on the Play Store. I have a 2025 Motorola G Power phone and I have all my music stored on an SD card on my phone. I was able to import my music into MC from the SD card but MC will NOT play music from the SD card. I can play any file on the SD card from Google Files but none will play from MC. If I continually hit the play button while in MC I can occasionally get a file to play, but otherwise no dice. Any ideas?”
The feedbck from JimH was as follows: “If you imported that location, the files should play”
My response to that feedback is included here: “I imported from the correct location and I can see all of the music including all of the album art. I use MC on my local PC and would like to use it on my phone, but it's not working. It also runs a bit erratically and seems to crash every now and then.”
I also tried storing files locally on the phone (not on the SD card) and importing them from there. These files import fine but still will not play. I tried clearing the cache and library, deleting and re-installing the app, etc. but nothing works. All permissions are enabled. What else can I try?

What are the file types?

They are all .mp3 files.

This may be a recent Android problem.

Follow progress in the thread linked above.

Where can I see the version currently installed on my phone? Can't find that information in the interface. Thanks.

On my Samsung S23 it is under the "hamburger/settings" menu - Info where it shows 34.0.7
