Title: MC Still Thinks It's MJ...
Post by: DocLotus on January 24, 2003, 04:36:35 am
I just un-installed MC9 & deleted the MC9 folder (was in folder Media Jukebox). I then re-installed it in a new folder called Media Center.

All went well with the main program except the databse re-installed itself in Media Jukebox & not Media Center.

Is this still a carryover from MJ that was missed?

well i just scraped the Media Center And Media Jukebox Dir And Reinstalled And Re-imported And Media Jukebox Dir Was Not Recreated.

Maybe they fixed it, but if you already have a Media Jukebox dir it may continute to use it, for compatability issues.

This is using 9.0.101 BTW

I just un-installed MC9.  I also made sure there was no Media Center or Media Jukebox folders present.

I re-booted the computer.

Re-installed MC9 in C:\Program Files\Media Center folder... It is still making a Media Jukebox folder & putting all the database files there.

Also all my icons came back up just as I left them which tells me there must be some Registry entrys that the un-install is not cleaning out including where to put the database.

Any ideas?

By the sounds of it I'd guess that there are old registry settings that are being left over after MJ is uninstalled that are making MC write to the MJ directory.

Thats my guess :)

Before all this happened, I had just reformatted my hard drive & did a clean install of Win XP Pro so I now think that the problem was not with the registry as there was none at this point.

I did however restore all the Program files from a back up to C:\Program Files\.  I then installed MC.  I know it was clean as it asked for my license.  As it created two folders, one for Media Center & one for Media Jukebox (where it put the new database) I then un-installed MC as I wanted to get rid of the MJ folder.  All files except one (MMKeyHandler.dll) were removed.  I manually deleted it & deleted the MC & MJ folders. Anyone know what the (MMKeyHandler.dll) file was for?

I then re-installed MC into C:\Program Files\Media Center but it still created a Media Jukebox folder for the database.

Any ideas?
