Title: Feature Requests for MC34
Post by: ppataki on March 11, 2025, 10:21:46 am
I have been asking for these for many years now, let's see if any of them will happen now:

- fix the WDM driver to be able to play 192kHz content flawlessly
- enable channel selection for stereo VST plugins (so I can assign the stereo VST plugin to whichever channels)
- enable full REW filter import (EQ filters all at once, not the convolution wav)
- have frame blending or equivalent in JRVR (I think it was called Smooth Motion in madVR)

Thank you

You should be a bit more specific on this one, as it does work for most 192 kHz content. What doesn't work well with the WDM driver is 192 kHz with the Tidal and Qobuz apps when exclusive mode is enabled in those apps.

You are right, thank you for pointing that out
Specifically the issue is with that use-case

If I generate let's say 31 EQ filters in REW I export them and then I could import that file into JRiver directly without typing in those 31 filters
Ideally I could also specify which channel I want to import to

I think earlier somebody has created a sort of a plugin for JRiver to make this work but it would be way better to enable this feature natively

Would like to see rich cover art as has been expressed in the threads.

That was me

https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,129609.0.html provides such functionality

Improvements on video stuff (hdr - sdr / tonemapping) and maybe NVIDIA superresolution and RTX HDR?

Individual volume control settings per video file would be very helpful.

Saving the slider setting to determine the size of the thumbnails for videos displayed rather than reset to default the next time MC is started would be nice.

Support of other music-only object formats like Atmos music is currently supported.

DTS-X
Auro3D
MPEG-H
Eclipsa

Also support of Object and DSD formats in Cloudplay

Also non linear stretching as per MadVr (see request here:  https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,140809.msg976640.html#msg976640)

--Would it be possible to configure a secure download of an item (video, audio) for local play through panel (or JRemote)? I was stuck without any / fast enough internet while travelling the other day, and it would have been nice to be able to download tunes or videos in advance (being on an airplane is still not a great time etc).

--Can we make multi-channel audio easier to set up and maintain on both Windows and Mac platforms?

On non-Intel Macs the channels are usually out of order (yes, can be fixed but often reverts) and you need to bitstream to make anything work; on current Windows 11 builds the WASAPI interfaces don't seem to work with AVRs (though it used to work--only Direct Sound now works and only if you've configured Windows for multichannel--settings that, again, can be messed up by Windows update etc...There's no ASIO driver for my (recent) Marantz AVR...).

I know this is not strictly a JRiver thing (OSs all have their oddities) but other players "just work" so I'm not sure why it's such a lot of set up to get MC to multichannel...

I also ask for a full REW filter import (EQ filters all at once, not the convolution wav)

Vertical picture shift please.

It may help if you specified which picture you would like to use the vertical shift on.

It may help if you specified which picture you would like to use the vertical shift on.

There is a feature in madVR that automatically shifts the picture to the top or bottom of the screen based on the aspect ratio.

I would love to have the ability to assign and store dsp settings (equalizer values specifically) to individual tracks and/or albums and have them re-applied with subsequent playback. I often find myself wanting to fine tune eq values to how I hear (my hearing) and it would be very helpful if the program could store the values in the sidecar file and re- apply them for future listening.  Thanks!

I'm really missing the Open Subtitles lookup feature from versions past.  I understand that Open Subtitles has changed the way it operates.  But I'd be willing to subscribe to Open Subtitles if Media Center offered the ability to "log into" Open Subtitles with user information to access it.

I understand this thread is for Requests for MC34, but what features are being released would be nice to know? Perhaps point me in the right direction, to know before upgrading?

Likely this still applies: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,140832.msg976784.html#msg976784

Still early in the dev cycle, they're likely not ready yet to make feature announcements.

One of my feature requests was easy access to AutoEQ which has been granted! JRiver Media Center is integrating this feature, starting with APO, which is the underlying audio processing framework. For context, Equalizer APO , Dolby Access and DTS Headphone:X are other examples of software that utilizes APO effectively.
-
So, what is APO? It stands for Audio Processing Object, a part of the system effect infrastructure introduced with Windows Vista. This will continue to allow audio software like JRiver Media Center to process sound at a system level, while enabling seamless integration with access to tools like AutoEQ.
-
For those unfamiliar, AutoEQ is a comprehensive database offering EQ filter settings for over 2,500 headphone models. It primarily references the Harman Target Curve, known for its balanced and natural sound signature, while also supporting custom target audio curves for personalized sound.

Please fix "Add All (as the next to play)" in JRiver Media Center 34 for Windows.

Please start a thread and describe the problem you're having. I just tried and it was working for me.

Thanks.
