Good Evening, All.
I know this has been covered ad nauseum.
I am having trouble deleting albums from specific folders on my MacJRiver 28.
I have moved the music files I don’t want to appear in my library into a folder called:
/Volumes/SPINNYDRV/Music/Archive-OriginalFiles (copy and pasted from Mac Finder). All of my music is on a second fixed (internal) drive called SpinnyDrv and all of it is in the Music folder.
I have clicked on this folder as an “exclude” folder in Configure Auto-Import as in the screen grab.
I think I have then tried every permutation of:
- Ignore files previously removed from library
- Update for external changes
- Fix broken links: No, Yes, Yes (Protect files on missing drives)
… followed by running Run Autoimport Now.
And yet the unwanted albums/music are all still there after running AutoImport
What is the correct selection of those “tasks” please?
What am I doing wrong please? (I used to be able to do this.)
Best regards,
George.

In MC (not in Finder), select files, then use DEL and read carefully. Try a few before doing all.

Thanks for your assistance, Jim, and especially for your prompt assistance.
That worked as you said, which is the way of the universe when you give advice.
I guess I cannot work out why "Excluding" the unwanted folder does not work to do this. I think in the past I did use the "exclude" unwanted folders to do this, pretty sure - hence my Exclude: \Volumes\SPINNYDRV\Music\Out" folder - and then used those other check box options before running Auto-Import Now to get rid of the library references.
Is that another way of doing it for whole folders of unwanted music, or am I confabulating (again)?
Regards,
George.

The simplest way of making sure any tracks/albums on /Volumes/SPINNYDRV/Music that you don't want Auto Import to load back into MC is to not put them in a folder under /Volumes/SPINNYDRV/Music; i.e. put them into /Volumes/SPINNYDRV/Archive-OriginalFiles so that Auto Import never sees them again until you tell it to import them.

Exclude should work. It's case sensitive.

Thanks Jim and ET.
I know that the Exclude method it should work because I am using it now successfully.
At least I am not going mad.
So today I will listen to some music while cleaning the house and furniture (again) of mould after 2.5 feet of rain in the last 3 months.
Cheers,
George.
