Title: Suddenly "Library Server could not be registered with JRiver"
Post by: dhsmusic on April 04, 2025, 10:57:46 pm
Media Center 30 for Mac (can't go any higher, computer can't go past OS Sierra). Have been running this configuration flawlessly for years. Suddenly JRemote won't connect. I reset the Access Key, but it keeps giving me an error message as if the computer is not connected to wifi. But it is. No antivirus, no firewall.

I have changed nothing. This issue just suddenly happened out of the blue.

I have tried restarting the internet, Media Center, the computer. No dice. Through Media Center I CAN access YouTube through streaming, so Media Center IS accessing the internet.

But nothing I have tried seems to help connect the Library Server to generate another access key and use JRemote. Please help!

P.S. I have another identical Mac running Media Center 30 on another system and it continues to connect fine.

It could be related to the server migration and changes happening right now and your ISP's DNS resolver being slow at updating for the changes. You can try changing your system or router's DNS to another like Google DNS or Cloudflare DNS and see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the input. I just switched my router to Cloudflare DNS and it unfortunately didn't make any difference. Are there any other things to try?

Or if the problem is being caused by external factors like the server migration and changes you mentioned, do you know when will those be resolved?

And it's strange that my other identical OS Sierra Macbook running Media Center 30 isn't having this issue...

Are there any manual DNS entries on that machine in the Network Preferences??
Are you using a VPN?
The DNS for JRiver is on a very short update lifetime as specified to the rest of the internet, you should not be seeing any issues.

I updated the DNS entries to match the Cloudflare ones. No change.

No VPN.

As I say, I can still access streaming through services like YouTube through Media Center, so Media Center is connected to the internet, despite the message to the contrary I am getting with the Library server issue.

YouTube, Netflix and other video/web stuff like that in general is handled through an external component, so it wouldn't be an accurate indicator if Media Center itself can reach the internet or not.

Please try again. There appears to have been an issue with the server.
