My JRiver server is up and running all day for just a few hours of music or video. When a client starts up, it wakes server as expected, but after certain amount of activity server will shut down. Not really sure how this is controlled, and server sleep always seems to happen when least expected.
It would be a very nice if the clients had more control over the wake-up and shut down intervals of the server.
There would need to be some type of communication between server / client to make this happen, but key is that client would have more control.
Would it be possible for a context menu to be added to the tree menu's selection for the server (local only - no DLNA). The context menu would allow selection with following types of selections :
1) wake server
2) Enable monitoring to keep server running (as long as client computer is active)
3) 30 Minutes
4) 60 Minutes
5) 2 hours
Thanks

That may just be a Windows setting on your server.

That may just be a Windows setting on your server.
It's windows 11 machine and AFAIK the only choice is windows sleep timer in combination with JRiver's wake request.
But, I always seem to have issue where server thinks activity has ended, the power request is released and the server sleeps.
If server and client could coordinate with each other, seems like all of this could be smoother i.e. client lets server know I'm "here" so don't shut down regardless of what server thinks is going on.

On the Server go to the Sleep Settings and set it to NEVER and that will stop it taking a nap when you don't want it to.

Keeping the computer awake indefinitely is not what is being requested. The server should be allowed to sleep, but client should have control over when sleep is allowed.
