1. NEW: The Modern Card skins use rounded corners on Windows 11 to match the Windows aesthetic.
2. NEW: Skins can opt into automatic rounded corners on Windows 11 using the <ROUNDCORNERS> element.
Hi! I'm not an expert, but how do I do this? Rounded corners, Imean.

If you are on Windows 11, they'll just show up on any of the Modern Card skins.

When I play a video file in MC 34 build 19 with the modern cards: dark skin, small white artifacts (don’t know the technical term) appear at each of the four corners of the display when the video file is played in Display View. This doesnt seem to happen with the non-modern cards skins, I’ve tried e.g. all looks normal on noire skin with no white corner artifacts.
-
That might be a side effect of the new rounded corners.

Makes sense - The white artifacts are slightly inset from the four full screen corners, kind of where I’d eyeball the rounded corners would be. Back to MC 33 for now - I really like the modern cards: dark skin

You can edit the main.xml of the skin and disable the round corners until a fix is available.
Couldn't the Round Corners thing be a checkbox in the Skin Effects menu?

I’m game, but as a nonprogramming (cranky) old man I’m not too sure how to do that. Can I use notepad and edit the xml by substituting for the current entry the following under </ROUNDCORNERS>: <data enabled=“0” Small=“0”/>?

If it doesn't happen with the other two Modern Cards skins it might just be a minor skin issue that hopefully can be fixed.

Yes, then restart MC or reload the skin.

This issue will be fixed in the next build, thanks for letting us know.

Thanks - 1 suggestion for consideration :
How about putting the round window skin option as a toggle in /view/skin effects per Zybex’s earlier comment above?
-
Rounded corners don't look/work well with some skins, so it has to be enabled in the skin's main.xml file.
Only the three Modern Cards skins that are included with MC have support for the rounded corners. I don't believe any others do.

As of MC 34.0.21 there are Now 4 skins that use the Microsoft Routines to create Rounded Corners when MC is in Windowed Mode - The 3 ModernCards Skins + Twilight Skin
Plus these 3 ET Blue Card II, ET Pastel Green I and ET Platinum Jubilee II also have Rounded Corners when MC is in Windowed Mode and Square Corners when in FullScreen Mode.
But if you want every MC Skin to only have Round Corners in Windowed Mode and Square Corners in FullScreen Mode you have to replace your Windows PC with an Apple Mac PC running the Sequoia 15.0.4 OS.
The reason why Zybex's Solution would not work is because that Option is only available on the Windows 11 Platform and the rounding of the corners can only happen when the skin is 1st loaded.
