OK, getting closer. I can start Media Server on Media Center 9. I can see the port is open. How do I CONNECT from another Meida Center 9 to it? Maybe I'm just dense today, but I can't find it....
-
Have a look under File=>Library. There you will find "Search For Media Servers"
-
OK, thanks for the info, we're almost there. I found that, and it attempted to connect. Once connected, how do I say PLAY from that server. I can play files, but it still appears to go to local files. Is it "web media"?
-
If it's connected, playing is the same as playing a local file. If you are playing files and it is connected, they are coming from Media Server.
Make sure you aren't also running a local copy of Media Server.

I don't have that option.
-
Are you sure? It used to be under tools. It's under Files/Library now.
-
yes.
It was there last week
I wonder if it has something to do with me deleting the Server
m01//
or somthing like that under library
I don't remember what goes in there or how to get it back.
-
Reinstalling it should work.
-
i will try that on the next build i guess

No..
Just not that important right now, I Guess.
If you cut and paste in a message what should be in there, i guess that would work too.
Not sure if my server works anyway, I have not tried it since all this was moved around. I do know when i pressed search for servers with the default string in there last week 9.0.100 MC crashed. thats why i removed it to see if it still did it. but forgot what went in there.

Try this:
m01p://localservers_autofind
This area needs some cleanup.
-
Ok, i got it to work
Thanks,
-
OK, so long as I created such an active discussion, I got it to work, but I wondered how I'd request a *specific* server. I see people are doing things like m01p://. Do I open a URL with that?

From above...
