Title: Recent Album Format Consolidation
Post by: Bumfuzzle on May 07, 2025, 10:39:54 am
Is there a way to simply adjust the stock 'recent albums' view to list different format albums separately? The default behavior of that view is this: if I already had imported an album in flac format a week ago and imported a dsf version of the same album today it, when sorted by 'date imported', it lists both albums as one according to the latest sort date and displays the 'filetype' as 'varies'... and when I add the album to the player it naturally adds all the available formats of the same thing.
Instead, how can I turn it into a strict recent albums list sorted by imported date... listing the last weeks flac album last week and today's dsf album today?

You'll want to modify the Grouping Expression to include [File Type]. I think the default for Recent Albums grouping is [Album Artist (auto)] - [Album] so instead you can use [Album Artist (auto)] - [Album] ([File Type]).

If you are using thumbnails in the view, then you'll also want to edit the displayed text: [Album Artist (auto)] [Album] ([File Type])

You might also explore the Stacks functionality, since this is what it's designed for.

The default comes with no expression under view customization but as only "album" library field. I copy-pasted your expression to 'customize view- type:expression - expression to group by' section and got exactly what I asked for. Thank you very much.
Too many details for the simplest things so it sometimes gets very tiring. But I'll probe what "stacks" functionality is right away per your advice.
