Title: bookmark reliability/per client bookmarks?
Post by: mattkhan on May 10, 2025, 03:33:50 am
My experience is that MC does not reliably remember position if you stop playback during the episode, by "not reliably" I really mean "it generally does not work at all". All playback in my setup is via clients and I suspect this is why it doesn't work

looking back through time, there are multiple threads of this nature

imv this needs to work reliably in a multiuser scenario to be useful (and that seems like a quite basic feature in this day and age)

i.e. it has to know who is watching (which profile is active) and it has to record the bookmark for that person/profile irrespective of what actually plays the file

MC would really need at least properish user management.

At start it could be just as simple as that:
- log in as an user on MCWS client or MC desktop app.
- MC could then have certain fields per user like play statistics/ratings/bookmarks (preferably e.g. check box on any field like: per user

It would also open up many possibilities to personalize usage, views and get averages and anything you could think of to do with the data.

yes that would be a big improvement

I guess (hope) making bookmarks work reliably on clients would be a smaller piece of work and hence might be more likely to arrive soon
