Title: HTPC Auto on?
Post by: Sky King on May 11, 2025, 07:01:59 am
An interesting phenomenon, to me at least, is the fact that I can have the HTPC that hosts the server turned off and launching a client turns the computer on.  Must be a setting in the HTPC's NIC configuration that allows a WOL or something.  Possibly a setting in JRiver as well.

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!  Sons and daughters, and husband and wives, do the right thing for them!

EDIT:  Changing none of the settings in the NIC properties such as "allowing this device to wake the computer" has any effect.  What does prevent it from turning on is disabling the "Use media network to share........" to prevent the server from being accessed by clients.
