Title: Support Email
Post by: JRU on May 15, 2025, 04:37:29 pm
Hello, I just got this email from JRiver that spoke of support, among other things the following was written -

"What does that mean for you?  Unless you own one of those, you cannot access our servers for CD lookup, cover art, access key lookup, license retrieval, and more. We just support reasonably current versions."

Now this is all fine but it got me thinking, what if in the future for some reason (dont know if this is already the case as it says license, not sure if this also currently extends to restores for older software versions) such as limited support or possibly JRiver shutting down I am unable to restore using my registration key and hence unable to install/use older versions of JRiver? How do I install JRiver without restoring it which I might be unable to do if JRiver doesn't support older software or has shut down?

I completely understand the limited support for older software, I don't have any issues with it. I am concerned about being able to use older JRiver versions if the server won't restore or if JRiver as a company has shut down. Can someone (hopefully JRiver) tell me what to do in this case? I am happy to pay to safeguard myself for this if needed but only for the version I want.

We only sell the current version, MC34.

JRiver is OK, even without you.  If we ever were to shut down, we'd probably find a way to keep some servers running.  Your installs on your existing machines would continue to run.
