There are a couple of features DESPERATELY needed for playlists to help make them a more useful tool and more manageable.
- Ability to move, delete, etc multiple playlists at once as right now they are TOTALLY unmanageable and it's honestly actually faster to delete a whole library with 7000 songs in it and reimport them all without having .m3u files selected than it is to delete/move all the playlists that it originally picked up.
- Send To/Playlists HAS to be made cascading to follow the same heirarchy as the tree as it is otherwise totally unmanageable for people like me who have playlist files for each of our physical albums.
I know you guys have a lot of work on your plates and are doing a lot of work for v9 but could I PLEASE request that these features are given quite a reasonably high priority. I know in the past when they were suggested, there was a lot of response from other users saying they would like these both added.
Thanks

Disaster tonight :)
One of my friends was leaving the country for a while so I said she could come make some cd's over here to listen to on her travels. She spent TWO hours going through my songs and selecting ones she wanted and putting them all in a playlist.
After two hours I came up to help her out and found that her playlist had ALL my songs in it literally.
Somehow she had accidentally added them all.
REQUEST
- type of 'accident protector' whereby if more than say 20 songs are sent to a playlist in one go then a confirmation prompt is given asking if this is correct.
I'd imagine people making playlists wouldn't be sending TONS of songs to it at one time otherwise it would hardly be a selective playlist. And even if they are, it'd just be one confirmation for all these files, not that big a hassle.
-
A confirm for adding to a playlist would annoy me. I don't like the idea that every user should have to deal with this every time they add more than N tracks. Since it's not an operation that is going to change the DB or modify files, I don't think it's a big deal to modify or just create a new playlist.

We've said it before, and it's ncie to be able to mention it again: The most intuitive way to do this I believe is still to have both the playlist AND the Media Library available on the screen at the same time. Then the user instantly sees if there's been any mistake + drag'n drop is more preferrable to (new) users... (nag nag...I know, we've been down this road before..:)
-
Agree with Marty,
And as for the confirmation - it would obviously be optional with a prompt the first time it is used like internet explorer's 'you are leaving a secure zone, do you wish to do this yes/no - remember every time'.
That way everyones happy.
-
Without wanting to nag, this does bring up 2 things:
1. as Marty says it would be brilliant to be able to see the library and playing now on the screen.
2. for when you accidentally add the entire library to playing now, its not currently clear what undo does. Its available as menu item when you start MC, ie before you do anything. Im not necessarily after multiple undo levels, but I think the menus should say what you are undoing, eg Undo Add to Playing Now, Undo Delete, etc.
Im not in favour of a confirmation dialog. I think these two things would remove the need for it.
-
In line with Marty3D on this one. IMO, the inability to view the library and playing now simultaneously is the only major point where MJ/MC compares poorly to the other major multimedia players. I know it won't happen in v9, we're probably past that point since it's in beta. But it would be nice to have a "statement of intent" from JimH or Matt or somebody there :)

Don't be too sure about not seeing something like at this stage in the game. It wasn't until pretty late in the game that they decided to include MEGA-ME skinning, so anything's possible.
But just in case it's needed, you can add my vote to seeing Playing Now\Playlists and Media Library at the same time as well.
-
The most intuitive way to do this I believe is still to have both the playlist AND the Media Library available on the screen at the same time.
Count me in on this one also.
Wouldn't want the 'Are you sure?' though. It's still simple enough to go back and forth to check your progress. Would be even easier if both were showing. See above.

To expand on what I'd like to see for this feature.
I'd like it configurable what the different screens view.
Ideally, the screen would be split into two halves like the playing now screen with BOTH screens able to show any of the following: Playing Now, Media Library, Visualisations, Track Info, Slideshow, Playlist Contents
so we could have MJ exactly as we want it with whatever we want at the top or bottom.
We could then for example drag from the media library to the playing now window and position the file, or to a playlist etc.

Bumping this too - Hope I'm not annoying with these bumps. Just things I thought were quite important that you might want to consider now that your at the point of having fixed most of the big bugs and so possibly ready to consider other features :)
