I have a handful of .avi videos that I can't get to show up when imported. Re-importing the directory finds the actual number of files (none considered new), even though the handful don't appear "visually" in the media library. I notice that it appears to be parsing the missing files (the screen flashes and while it's thinking, I can see the filenames listing) - but it doesn't parse the existing files.
Short of recreating the entire libary from scratch(something I'd rather not do!), is there a way to get these phantom entries out?

by this do you mean files that are in the list that are no longer there?
if so
file, library, update library,
[X] remove files that do not exist

No... rather there are files:
1 - that exist on the hard drive,
2 - that are [apparently] in the library (because when importing, they don't get listed as newly found - but the total number of files found includes them), and
3 - that cannot be found anywhere in the library.
It's the second item that seems like the odd-man-out, but, noetheless, happens.

I just had this exact same problem in 9.0.95.
The files were in the library but did not show up where they were supposed to.
Searching for the files came up in Media Library. Doing a locate -> Artist & Album brought it to the Artist name (like it's suppose to) but the files were not there.
What I did was highlight the files found in the search, edited the artist field again and they magically appeared again.
These files were also in the Recently Imported playist so there is definately a bug here.

Except, I can't find the files anywhere in the Media Library... seaching doesn't find them either.
