Media Center 9.0.93 beta is available.
Many things will crash and not work. If that worries you, please wait for a couple of weeks.
[pulled for stability reasons. soon...very soon]
Changes
1. Fixed: MP3 tag reading / writing was not working.
2. NEW: OGG tagging fully supports unicode / international characters.
3. Fixed: Installer would fail to create quick launch icons.
4. Fixed: Drag-n-drop to external programs was not working.
5. Fixed: Copy-n-paste wasn't working inside of Media Jukebox.
6. Fixed: Shell extensions were not working.
7. Fixed: "mjextman" wasn't handling all commands correctly.
8. Fixed: Firewire drives should now work with MJ's CD burner (only tested with Audigy firewire port).
9. Changed: "Audio Analyzer" changed to use new player core for decoding. (let us know if leaks are still present)
We're still getting more bugs reported than we can fix each build. Please keep a list of bugs you find, and re-report anything that doesn't get fixed each build.
Thanks for your help and support.

ModVer: 1.0.0.42 Offset: 0003ee37
winxp sp1 - amd 1600+ 769mb ddr ram

Me too. Well at least I'm in good company :) I was beginning to think my computer was cursed never to run MJ again. BTW I get the XP crash message but until I click close the program I can still play things in the background... Failed to import my complete library though
Adam

(passes over a hiene)

Crashes when tring to import media folders with .m3u or .pls file. I exclude those from being imported, all better.
-
it may crash but you can use MC just don't close out the Error Dialog Box
-
Crashes when initiating a CD Rip. I would try adding the previous cdwriter.ocx in but have no idea how...

atleast you got it to work, i still can't get passed the main screen.
1) splash screen
2) importmedia window
3) crash...
maybe 94 is a good luck number. tomorrow maybe a great day :D
::UPDATE::
figured i'd just add this instead of adding a new reply.
when uninstalling the start menu folder of JRiver Media Center remains. maybe forgot to switch ot over from mediajukebox 8.
i've been meaning to mention this, but i thought it maybe looked over on purpose.
Taken earlier from build 88 build 93 should have the same settings as i installed over it.

multiple mj icons in quick launch bar come and go
thats a WinXP glich. let me tell you i beta tested that darn OS and all be monkey's uncle if they ever fix it.
The beta manager stated all small and none meaningless bug where not going to be fixed.
easy fix, right-click the bar, goto toolbars deselect quicklaunch, then reset it up. and bingo ;)
-
Like King said MC continues to play mp3 files as long as you do not close the MS "Sorry for the Inconvience" pop-up screen. All of my files were imported. I am not going to even try CD burn since on the last several versions of MC even though I have test mode selected, the CD is stamped and closed after the unsuccessful attempts to burn a playlist. It is not a big loss but on at least a dozen attempts the blank media has been messed up. Thank you, Joe Karnes

But it works. Thanks

hmmn never happened before this build for me.
because he just fixed the quicklaunch installation path. before this build it would send it to C:\Documents and Settings\Jason\Application DataMicrosoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch.
The real location was at C:\Documents and Settings\Jason\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch.
So maybe your just getting 2 because they are both named different
::UPDATE::
ok, ^^ could have been another cause. but, i missunderstood yoru above message.
aslong as it worked
-
one last thing, i did notice that the right-click feature doesn't use that .dll anymore. so it must all go through mjextman now. this is kinda better, since now windows doesn't need to repositor another dll.
increases speed to.
no more having to logoff/logon after uninstallation to unmemory the dll w00t :).
-
If you downloaded and installed 9.0.93, it's possible to make it work by downloading this file:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/CDWriter.ocx
and putting it in the program directory.
Sorry for the let-down. Tomorrow.
-
that worked.
Import Is Still Crashing.
-
I got a crash, too, but at the end, and import worked. You have more files than I do.
-
Didn't get to try version .93 but something I haven't seen yet.
Have you been able to replicate the problem where MC9 loses focus when navigating throughout the system? I see it a lot when expanding/collapsing tree items. It loses focus and the MC9 Logo on the menu bar changes to a standard windows, um...window. And my HDD just churns and churns for 10-20 seconds until focus is returned.
Tied to the memory leak issue maybe?

Sorry for the let-down. Tomorrow.
hey hey, it's no let down. It's a beta build, and rest assured. stuff happens.
Can't make a god in one day, and even when god is created, he/she can't make anything in 1 day either.
so lets all have a round, and just see what happens

When creating new View schemes, what's the difference between Album Artist and Album Artist (Auto).
One would guess the auto thingy will do something like that:
if Album_artist is null then
return Artist
else
return Album_artist
Well, it doesn't do that , although I would love if if it could.
Another function missing concernig album artist.
When looking for data in YADB or looking for cover art, the engine searches for the artist name and not the album artist.
In that way, song 2 from the greatest album of all times - Dire Straits/Brothers in Arms (the song is Money For Nothing Featuring Sting), will not be found. (It's looking for the album: Dire straits & Sting / Money For Nothing).
One more thing I asked for a long time ago, if it's possible to attach an explanation of the new audio fields (BPM, mood, intensity etc.).
Thanks.
-
Thanks JimH for the OCX file, i got it all working. but i'm not even going try the ripping features, i'll wait till the next build.
cheers,
equalizer
::UPDATE::
either a bug or request, the continuous play option when turned on, it resets when MC is closed, then you have to turn it back on upon opening MC.
