Once apon a time
When Mark had nothing to do at 10:00AM today. Mark went to his place of worship (Best Buy). When walking up and down the computer section Mark stoped into the Add-on's department.
Mark Asked "How much Is the 256megs OF DDR Memory" The clerk behind the counter said well we have 3 kinds, this one is on sale for $62.99 and there is a $28 rebate (Crucial Techology Memory).
So Mark Asked for one and went to the check out and went home and installed the memory into his 1.8ghz computer now with 500megs+
Mark had a big smile on his face and his system seems to work faster now when using his Windows XP system.

Nila bows at Mark's bravery for trying to use Windows XP with only 256 Megs in the first place.
I am not worthy of being in the prescence of such a brave man! :)
-
Shoot Microsoft said 128, recomend 256
When Mark bought this thing (like 3 months ago) Mark said Upgrade me to 256.
Sure mark made a mistake (one of many) mark will never do that again.
Next time I will Be with mark when he picks his next computer.
But at any rate if you need memory Best Buy has a good deal right now.

When Bill Gates recommends something, such as 128mb of RAM...
ALWAYS multiply by 4 (or more)!
-
Haha, I will second JorgeGVB's suggestion, and add my own: do not buy version 1 of anything.
As to the memory, Crucial is a good brand and it sounds like a good price. For those without a place of worship (Best Buy) nearby, you can check out http://www.crucial.com (http://www.crucial.com/).

Bill Gates also said...
"640K ought to be enough for anybody." circa 1981

i run 1.5gb of ram on my PC.
As of this place of wh0reship being Best Buy. I'd hafta disagree there, I used to work for this such company, and let me tell you, what they do, say, and show is nothing you'd want to know.
My place of worship is newegg.com. I guess the having it after you buy it feeling isn't there.
cheers,
equalizer
