How do you recategorize files that are incorrectly identified? For example, I have a number of movies that reside under the "audio" section and visa-versa.
-
Is there no fix for this?
-
You might be able to edit the registry entries for the file type under MC. Are they asx files? Some files can be either audio or video, and we can't tell.
-
WMV, MPEG, and MPG files are those being miscategorized. WMA is Windows Media Audio while WMV is Windows Media Video. The MPG/MPEG issue would be a little harder to fix, but aren't those extensions usually used for video only?
-
Something is wrong. MPG, MPEG, and WMV should all be showing as video. Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling?
-
No; I've been updating. Do I need to reimport my library too? I don't really want to do that until I can export my playlists.
-
Right click on a wrongly assigned file, and pick "Tools -> Update Library (from tags -- always)"
Does MC get it right then? If not, our detection is wrong. Sending a few of the files to matt @ jriver.com would help us debug.
Also, maybe we should make "media type" user-editable so you can just type or drag-n-drop to edit it like you can with other fields.
-
That does appear to have fixed it. Thanks Matt!
