Is the YADB down for good? It doesn't seem to be accessible today... :-[
-
It's up and running...No downtime as far as I know.

Been working for me! :)

Strange! I am still having issues connecting to YADB. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?
-
Was it working for you before?
Strange things can happen with firewalls and proxy servers.
Have you installed new software or changed your configuration since it last worked?
-
No, no changes to my connection settings. It is possible that there are some corporate firewall issues but this has been working for the last 3 months without a hitch. I don't recall any changes. Is it most likely going to be a function of my connection settings?
-
try http://www.yadb.com/ and see if that works.
Let me know.

If you use a proxy server, make sure it is set in IE and then make sure it is not using the "automatic" option there.

Sounds Good...

Actually, I can not connect to the http://www.yadb.com/ site. I assume that Media Center is pinging the same servers @ yadb.com.
-
Open a DOS/Command prompt window and type:
ping www.yadb.com
What is the IP address you are pinging? Or do you get a DNS error.
If the ip address is 198.73.82.4, then try :
telnet www.yadb.com 80
and see what happens.

After the telnet command:
Could not open a connection to host on port 80: Connect failed.
-
Did this work?
ping www.yadb.com
What is the IP address you are pinging? Or do you get a DNS error.

Just in case you didn't: make sure the IP address is right, you could try:
telnet 198.73.82.4 80
to make sure. You should get the same error (Connect failed).
Then try:
telnet www.mediajukebox.com 80
and see what you get. Are you using the same machine to post as to do the lookups? You might try
tracert www.yadb.com
tracert www.mediajukebox.com
They should be the same except for the last hop.
At this point, it looks like something is messed up on your end or at your ISP. The two hosts sit right next to each other,, and if you can get to one, you should be able to get to the other. You might check with your ISP and see if they put in new firewall filters.

Sorry, JimH. It didn't work. The ping times out and the ip address is 198.73.82.4.
I am starting to think there is a firewall issue. I can connect to mediajukebox.com with no problems at all. Thanks for all of your help and advice. Totally appreciated.

you're welcome (from JimH and me too)
Try the tracert stuff. It's not always reliable, but if one works and the other doesn't, you'll know where the problem is.
