Hi all,
I've just finished ripping a number of songs. During the rip I've enable MC 9 to download the cover art from the internet.
I should explain that I'm 100% into dance music (House/Techno/Trance etc.)
However, MC 9 has downloaded some really weird cover art for my Albums. It also only managed to find 127 covers for my 547 Albums (is this normal ?).
As mentioned - I am only into Dance Music - but some of the cover art it has downloaded is nothing to do with dance music.
Some examples are (in no particular order ::) )
- Melissa Etheridge
- Black Uhuru
- The Duke Ellington Orchestra
- Little Richard (!)
- Aerosmith
- Al Stewart
- John Hartford (a tribute to fiddle music !)
- Swirlies (Flute Music !)
- Eric Clapton
- The history of british rock
- Bruce Springsteen
- And many more ......
So how does this 'download cover art' work ? Is it normal to only have a quarter of your CD's actually download cover art, and of those to find approx. 20% are totally wrong ?
Just thought I would ask in case I'm doing something wrong.
Thanks,
Mark

It is not 100% acurate thats for sure.

It is not 100% acurate thats for sure.
Hey hey you are kind.
It is not even 10% acurate.
retrospek
They would like very much to improve it at JRiver ,but things are not that easy and clearconcerning licence.
Just do not use it.
Have a look at AMG ,you may get a much better result

It is not even 10% acurate.
In my testing it works about 40% of the time correctly thats counting Miss matches and Albums Not found

The truth is that I'm having much better luck with MC9 in this regard than I did with MJ8--it wouldn't download cover art at all. I figured out a long time ago that MJ/MC seems to get all its cover art from one source (I'm sure a lot of you know who I mean) and if that source doesn't have your cover art, you're not getting it. I'm stumped as to what happens when you get completely wrong art--it's happened to me a few times but not like what retrospek is going thru. I recommend you think of somebody who posts decent-sized examples of cover art--for instance, to show what they're selling?--and look it up there, then copy it and paste into your cover art window. It can really be a hunt if your artist has a big catalog, but the art is out there about 80% of the time, I'd guess.

Where is this feature located? Can't seem to find it in the help files... ?

Where is this feature located? Can't seem to find it in the help files
depends on what version your using
-
select the files, then right click, go to tools, then to get cover art. Only a guess, but at least I think your on version 9, since your in that group.
KingSparta must not be feeling well, as before most of his replies were helpful.. hope he gets better soon.

>> KingSparta must not be feeling well
I'm fine, I could use a Hug however

>> 9, since your in that group.
that is not a guarantee he could be using Version 5, 6, 7, 8, 0r 9

What The Old Cop Said is ok for MJ9

I can't seem to get the cover art to work very well. I do download a lot of coverart to my hard drive using other sources. I am having trouble adding " jpg images" or "coverart" from my hard drive to mp3 files within Media Center 9.0.
Help!!!!
PS - Already checked the MJ8 help box as the MC9 help box is not there and found no help?

Thanks King
I tried what you said and selected Offline and tried both options of "tolerance" The box downloading comes up and just disappears after a few seconds. No Coverart or browser window to locate my image files!
Is there something wrong with a file or .ini setting? Anything else to check??
:'( ?

To Get "browser window" Or A Common Dialog Box You Need To Display The Image Box To The Left, Then Select The "Tools" Button.
Under The "Tools" Button There Is An "Add" Button
Push That To Do It Manualy
-
Thanks again King
Got it working now.
I didn't realize that there was so much more in the "properties ..." embedded box beyond "playlists" and "format". I found the "image" box and all is great now.
:) :)
I also saw a response by JimH in the "partial instructions" Board on the same thing
Bye the way ... my kudos to all the team on a great product ... small things amiss but a team that is interactive and pushing the best player in the market.

I'm having the same problem with manually adding art. I can't make head or tail of your instructions (which says more about me than you). Please could you give it again in an 'idiots guide' version?

;D ;D
Hey,
Slept on it and re-read this thread.
Got it!
Thanks for everyones input!

I'm shivering with anticipation: What is AMG? A cover search engine, or something? 8)
-
Mastiff,
AMG is a large Database of Artists, check out
www . allmusic . com this is the URL
List albums / has cover art & much more.
-
Finally figured out manually adding artwork and found this:
My Data/Cover Art directory is full of covers that were downloaded when ripping but they don't show up in MC.
When looking at tracks properties the Image path and file are correct and point to the right place but still no show.
I have tried adding the same image manually and it still doesn't show.
There doesn't seem to be a pattern. Some downloaded and all manually added images show. Why don't the rest?
Any clues anybody?
-
What version are you using?? I seem to remember this being a prolem with one of the older builds. I have no problems with the current build. Are you selecting individual tracks or doyou have the whole album selected. If you hav e the whole album selected it does not show the art, it just tells you where it is stored (i.e inside files). However if you select a single track you should see the cover art...

Thanks! Found a few of the covers I'm missing without any problems! Cool! 8)

mindtracing,
had the same problems with files in wma format, the cover art was there but just loaded randomly into MC. Don't have the problem with ape format!
