Title: MC9 aborts on startup - buffer overrun
Post by: MrVegas on January 02, 2003, 04:48:52 pm
I just downloaded MC9 (on my XP machine) and the install gets all the way to the point that it is launching the software on the desktop ...

and it says "Buffer overrun detected!" and the thing aborts.

can anyone help?

how do you know you're downloading the absolute latest build?

MrVegas,
You get the latest build by going to the download link at the beginning of the "MediaCenter 9."whatever. It changes sometimes daily. Hasn't in the past two weeks though. There is a new Beta promised for tomorrow. When it becomes available, there wiil be a new post about it with the link in the first post.
When it comes, download but don't open it. Uninstall all previous versions of MJ and MC and restart your computer. Before you do anything else, open up the directory that you saved the new build in and start the installation.
If you still have problems, post to this thread. Post as much system info as you can. Speed of processor, operating system, available memory and the version of MC that you are trying to install.
If you really don't want to wait until tomorrow, try all that with a redownload of the build posted.
