Title: Converting Files
Post by: mander on January 02, 2003, 06:47:31 pm
I am having two issues with conversions.  Maybe someone has the answers.

This is happinging on 9.0.88

1.  Converting a wav to mp3, the wav is always removed from the database.  I don't see any options to keep it in the db.  What am I missing?

2.  All the tag info moves over to the MP3 correctly, except for the name.  For file name I am using:  [ARTIST] - [ALBUM] - [TRACK #] - [NAME]
MC names the file correctly, but uses this format for the song name as well.  Is there a way to turn this off?  I want just [NAME] for the track name.

Choose a track(s) and bring up the Convert Files dialog, click on Options, set the parameters for the format you are converting to, click OK and you get the Converter Setting dialog, choose Converter Settings and uncheck Update Media Jukebox Database and Send original file to the Recycle Bin.  This should leave the .wavs in your database, but you might also have to go back and import the newly converted files.

If I understand your problem correctly, the only suggestion I have is to make sure that the .wavs have the correct info in each tag properties field before converting them.

The options for what to do with the old and new files does need some work.   I've already suggested splitting the option to...

What to do with the old file:
Delete from file system and database
Leave on file system, delete from database
Leave on file system and database

What to do with the new file:
 Add to database
 Don't add to database

The "name" thing is a bug and it's been reported.
