Title: How to set SmartList Properties?

I can't figure out how to set the properties of a smartlist.  The interface is not intuitive and the help doesn't help.  I can make a new smartlist but can't set the properties.  Can someone give me a hint?

At the top of the smartlist screen there is an entry field where you can enter smartlist parameters manually or click on the wand button on the left hand side to show a menu listing all the parameters to create your query.

Phil,
Thanks so much for answering my question.  I would have never found that wizard button.  This helps me a lot but still doesn't completely answer my question.  

I have a lot of comments about the interface.  I'm going to start another thread because I don't think the developers will see this one since they didn't notice my original question.
