Hi
I am new to the dvd side of MC.
So maybe I am doing something wrong or MC doesnt support it.
I am in the testing phase of converting my VHS tapes to DVD.
I notice that MC:
Does not auto run DVD. You have to manually start them.
Menu with chapters come up at end of video and then if you select a chapter, you get sound, but no picture.
I did notice that .vob, .bup and .ifo are not in MC file types, but DVDs will play manually.
I have no prob. with the ATI DVD player.
Can someone shed some light on this.
Thanks
Griff

sound but no picture
Even if you switch to playing now?

This is the same problem I reference in my post http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=beta;action=display;num=1039245328. which didn't receive a response.
I wrote
Am I missing something about playing DVDs through MC? When navigating to the DVD Drive, all I get are vague filenames such as:
DVD (4)\DVD Title 3 (1 chapter).dvd;3
DVD (4)\DVD Title 1 (14 chapters).dvd;1
DVD (4)\DVD Title 2 (1 chapter).dvd;2
with no idea which contains the "main" video, it's hit and miss when the number of chapters doesn't give it away. I've looked through the forum and I see almost no mention of using MC to view DVDs... so I figured I'd ask here.
I also note that on-screen menus aren't accessible - making it tough (impossible) to get to the movie on some DVDs I have.
What's MC's functionality with DVD playing? Thanks in advance.
I'm still interested in this, as MC is currently virtually useless for me in playing DVDs.

You rang?
I don't know exactly what you mean.
When I play DVD's, I'm in the image view, not the detail view, and it works if I just click on the first image. I'm rewarded with a message from the FBI and I have a chance to visit the refrigerator.
If you know what we should do, please provide a road map.

Hi
No No No
When you pop in a dvd, it should autorun.
Dont matter what view you are in.
The next thing you should see is a menu.
It should have Icons for Bud, IC Light, Coors Light, and ect.
These are called Chapters.
Except for the Frogs.
Now when you ck. on a chapter, that part of the video should run.
Ok?

I won't get picky about autorun...
What are these "images"? As I wrote above, all I get is something cryptic like
DVD (4)\DVD Title 3 (1 chapter).dvd;3
DVD (4)\DVD Title 1 (14 chapters).dvd;1
DVD (4)\DVD Title 2 (1 chapter).dvd;2
These are for a single DVD... can you tell where the main is? I'd guess Title 2. The answer isn't always so clear.
I certainly don't see any way to select individual chapters, nor do I see a way to navigate menus.

sraymond,
Title 1 should start the DVD. Your sort order may be set to something odd. Check your options.
griff,
Still computing. It will be a little bit.
Autorun will be simple when we get around to it. Did you try fiddling with Windows settings for what's associated with DVD file types?

Hey Scott
Have you tried media player, ati dvd player, or any one elses player. A menu has breaks points Called chapters in the video, where you can skip along thru the video. It comes up first, not last. you select where you want to go in the video.
You didnt see the menu on yours, cause it comes up at the end on MC.
I made a short dvd and thats how I found out what MC was doing.
You can also have points within the chapters, but Mc will do this with the slider bar.
Ps Thanks for your response on the 8500.
Griff

DVD (4)\DVD Title 3 (1 chapter).dvd;3

You should have bought the pro ver. of MC, it comes with a Crystal ball.

I have no trouble playing any DVD using ZoomPlayer, nPlayer, ATI's MMC, etc. I can properly navigate menus and chapters. Perhaps I'll stick with nPlayer... it shouldn't be this hard to play a DVD!
I'm looking at one particualr DVD, and none of the chapters in any of the titles appear to contain the actual "movie". I can find the main menu, but clicking on "play" just plays the warning, a production company short, and then stop. It also goes to full-screen when I double click on the play menu item.
I'll experiment with some other DVDs... perhaps the region has something to do with it.
Thanks for the help...

Sorry, replace "chapters" with "Title" in the last two post I made above and it will make more sence.
Must have had chapters on the brain or something.

Thank You

Ok, I usually just rt. ck. on the drive and select play.
The next thing that happens is you go to full screen and the movie plays.
This is where we diff.
You get the FBI warning. I dont.
If I look at the bottom of the screen it says chapter 1.
If I want to see the Menu, I have to rt. ck. on the screen , go to DVD chapters then Menu.
All my other DVD players Show the Menu first.
Where I can select the title and chapter that I want to play.
Did you try fiddling with Windows settings for what's associated with DVD file types?
Yes, .vob is ATI, .bur doesnt show, .ifo is Media player.
Changed .vob to Media player. No diff.
I hope that I have made this more clearer for you.
Thanks for your help
